PERSONAL REALITY: Photography Studies
In 2023, RadLab Studio will form a creative team of six selected authors with extensive experience in alternative photography to explore the topic “Personal Reality”. During this project, our team will be engaged in a variety of activities, including conducting experiments, meeting with students, printing photography books, and presenting exhibitions.
The project is a natural reflection of our mission to encourage and disseminate emulsion photography as an important part of the media’s cultural heritage. It is a call to generate works that correspond to the added value of expressive means. The author-media relationship plays an exceptional role in the artistic production: manually printed images using photosensitive chemicals and methods closely related to the DIY concept. The autors often devise their own chemicals, papers, and instruments, emphasizing the importance of the creative process and not just the final output. Using techniques beyond conventional methods to achieve photographic images, our collective will present interpretation of the topic.
In an intimate exploration of reality, each author will examine their personal pursuits, breaking down the boundaries between fact and imagination, image and symbol, time and space. The artistic production will be a alchemical experiment, systematic chronology of the exploration, merging the disciplines of chemistry, physics, and psychology with the artist’s own thoughts, attitudes and relations as a team. The collective effort of the artists provokes a reflective questions about the constant change and how the human is experiencing its personal reality.
PERSONAL REALITY project is implemented with the financial support of National Culture Fund, Bulgaria.
