Photography is an exquisite art form that grants us boundless opportunities for imaginative expression. It is a medium that demands a balance of both technical and artistic proficiency to manifest a meaningful image. The photographer must harness their scientific knowledge to manipulate the camera, whilst also tapping into their artistic prowess to capture a message or evoke emotion. It is precisely this duality of skill that makes photography an effective tool for enhancing our personal aptitude.
From March to June, RadLab Studio will be immersing students in an interdisciplinary learning experience, employing photography as a vehicle to explore the relationship between art forms and science. In collaboration with the National Aprilov Highschool in Gabrovo, this program will be offered free of charge, available to all students. Our curriculum will incorporate an array of discussions on photography, with founder Ivelin Penchev introducing students to analog and alternative photography techniques. Moreover, we have also brought on board members of our creative team, who will act as mentors during these classes and facilitate discussion on a variety of topics. Together with the help of National Aprilov Highschool teachers, we will illuminate the vital connections between photography, art, and the natural sciences.
Photography is an exceptional tool that helps students develop critical thinking, creativity, and visualization skills, while also making the learning process fun and engaging. We believe that initiatives such as these, which are geared towards developing cultural competence in non-specialized schools, can serve as a beacon for best practice in alternative and interdisciplinary education.
Our education program is implemented with the financial support of National Culture Fund, Bulgaria.
