SUMMARY:ALTERNATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY PROCESSES: LITHPRINT
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Lithprint workshop is now open to apply. We are delighted to announce an Open Call for submissions from artists who use analog processes. Out of these submissions\, a jury will select 6 artists to take part in our Lithprint workshop\, designed to extend their knowledge in alternative processes and print their own images.Lith printing is a black & white printing technique\, using negatives\, a suitable black & white paper and highly diluted Lith developer – from which the process gets its name. This process has often been shrouded in mystery and described as ‘unduplicatable’ with no two prints ever looking completely the same. Lith printing gives a completely different look to black and white darkroom prints and permits the photographer a multitude of ways to express different emotions and feelings to a scene or portrait. Over the years there have been many photographers who have exploited its effect\, and even now it has a small subculture dedicated to keeping it alive. For all the participants we will provide darkroom equipment\, checmicals\, black and white photo papers up to 30x40cm\, safety clothing.Guest Lector: Nikola DyulgyarovTo apply please fill in the application form below and send your motivation letter (150 words max)\, portfolio of between 5 – 10 images that reflect the nature of the work you would like to make here and background information on how the works are created. Include any links to online material: website\, Instagram etc.Submission deadline is Sunday 20th of March 2022\, midnight (EET)Special requirements: Proposed artworks must be produced using analog photographic processes. Due to the current application process there could be digital stage (scanning)\, but the finished work must rely largely on analog production and shot on film. All the images\, that you would like to Lithprint during our workshop must be shot on film with size up to 6x7cm and may differ from your application images.Judging criteria: In this Open Call\, we are looking to select six artists who are passionate about their analog practice in today’s digitalised world. In jurying\, the emphasis is on the artistic vision and motivation to extend their knowledge. We want to see self-awareness and ambition in producing photographic works\, using . There are no limitations as to the theme of the submissions.Successful applicants will be chosen on the basis of their motivation letter\, body of work will be notified via phone and e-mail untill 22nd of March 2022.Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. This workshop is part of Alternative Photography Processes project\, implemented with the financial support of the National Culture Fund\, Bulgaria. \n  \nApply Now \n  \n

SUMMARY:QUARANTEEN
DESCRIPTION:QUARANTEEN is a collection of selected photographs of young authors who participated in BLUE SUMMER project of RadLab Studio. BLUE SUMMER has a cultural and educational purpose and aimed at young people with a creative charge. The photographs were taken during their summer vacation and represents their world\, which is inevitably affected by the Covid-19 pandemic\, the consequences of which threaten the social model\, reprogramming the personality and often leading to loss of identity. There are ten participants\, as in the project. They are connected only by the love of photography. Through their lenses\, they represent a world of aspirations\, freedom\, limitations\, emptiness\, hopes\, beauty\, strangeness\, irony\, fear and excitement. The shots represents the growth as a process in life. The barrier of the child’s consciousness has been crossed and there – on the border between the naive and the mature\, the images in QUARANTEEN have been created. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Lucyd Eyes
DESCRIPTION:RADLAB studio presents Lucid Eyes\, an exhibition by Vesselina Nikolaeva – one of the leading contemporary Bulgarian photographers working in the field of narrative photography.\nLucid eyes is a series of portraits and landscapes from the coveted world outside – all taken in the last year. Printed in large formats\, they create the impression of immediate human proximity. They seem to be more alive than some of the people we meet in our everyday life – especially when we need to layer medical masks on top of our social ones.\nWhen was the last time you felt close to someone? How do you know that someone has decided to trust you? Can you read in someone’s eyes that you have been allowed in their inner world?\nIn the Lucid Eyes exhibition warmth and openness are not hidden under layers of social rules. The people in the pictures allow the viewer to step into their inner world – but they are also looking into him. Their look is relaxed and open\, their eyes are lucid. And we feel the impulse to do the same – when we look at them\, when we look at anyone around us. Their eyes are a physical reminder of what it means to love.

SUMMARY:Cyan Day
DESCRIPTION:Cyanotype is one of the first known techniques in image reproduction\, in which emulsion silver is not involved. It is  characterized by its blue tones\, as its name suggests. Long considered simply a printing technique\, today it is gaining popularity as an alternative mean of expression in photography due to its accessibility\, technical unpretentiousness and many different ways to improvise.
